This film was John Carpenter's tribute to H.P. Lovecraft, and in my opinion it captures the spirit of Lovecraft's writings better than any other movie.
Sam Neill plays an insurance investigator sent to investigate the dissapearance of a best-selling horror writer, and his search leads him to discoveries that shatter his reality.
Fans of either Carpenter's films or Lovecraft's writings will very much enjoy this movie.

I agree. It does capture the spirit of Lovecraft. This was an amazing film and that's really all you can say about it. Just simply amazing! Carpenter at his finest! Sam Neill and Julie Carmen were a wonderful match, playing off each other. Both are incredible actors. Hunt this one down and check it out! Just wonderful! Horror at his finest!
